Angola Fishing

Angola is becoming a sought-after angling destination. The waters teem with fish left untouched by human interference for many years due to the civil war. The surf fishing opportunities are fantastic! Our aim will be to take the most direct route to reach the coast and ensure maximum time for fishing. The best fishing spots will be around Flamingo Lodge and the Kunene River Mouth.

On this 10-day expedition you will discover the angling treasures of the Angolan coast and will be hooked to return soon. Don’t let this big one get away!

Itinerary

DAY 1:

BORDER CROSSING RUACANA

Depart from Eha Lodge for the Ruacana border post. Cross the border into Angola and meet your Angolan guide on the Angolan side of the border. After border formalities the route we will follow runs parallel with the Cunene River to the mouth of this important water artery at Foz de Cunene. The Cunene River forms the natural border between Angola and Namibia. Be on the look-out for Himba settlements. The Himbas are semi-nomadic people who live in northern Namibia and southern Angola. They are considered to be the last nomadic people of Namibia.

Our progress for today will be slow due to bad road conditions and our progress will determine where we will set-up a bush camp for tonight.

EN ROUTE TO CUNENE

We break up camp and continue our expedition towards the mouth of the Cunene River. The drive will take us through magnificent scenery that reminds of the Kaokoland of Namibia. We enter the province of Namibe, which is named after the desert that occupies the majority of this area. Be on the look-out for the amazing Walwitchia Mirabilis plant. At some stage you will also drive through Parque National du Iona. Depending on our programs we will sit-up a bush camp.
